Silver Spring Intermediate Neighborhood Park is one of our more popular parks! We want to keep it looking good for all of our park vistors with the help of volunteer gardeners.

Gardeners will help with the basic maintenance of planted grasses, plants and shrubs on a monthly basis. Tasks will include weeding, raking, planting and maybe some light pruning - but only after training!

Volunteers will work in a small group on the first Tuesday of every month, beginning May 7th until October 1st. Hours would be from 9 am until 1pm, and rain dates would be arranged within the group's schedule.

Gardening experience is preferred, but not required. Training will provided as needed. Tools will be provided!

Minimum age of volunteers: 21

Job type: Seasonal (2-6 months)

Volunteer type:  Adult, Senior (55+)

Duties:
>Assist with the routine maintenance of assigned outdoor areas, including planting, watering, weeding, deadheading, raking, and pruning (after training).
>Interact with public by answering questions they may have.
>Veteran gardeners will train new volunteers.
>All tools and supplies provided.

Qualifications:
>Garden experience is preferred, but not required.

Requirements:
>Minimum age: 21 years old.
>Must maintain a record of volunteer hours.
>Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures.
>Able to perform physical labor, including bending, and kneeling.
>Able to learn how identify and safely remove weeds and/or non-native invasive species
